Everything you need to know about mortgages, refinancing and buying a home
A comprehensive guide to giving yourself the upper hand in a constantly evolving housing market.
It’s no secret that buying a home or refinancing your house can be a nerve wracking process. Whether you’re thinking of purchasing your first home, realizing your dream of a quaint summer home in Vermont or trying to acquire the funds to remodel or repair the home you have now when the kids have grown and left the nest for college. Once you’ve signed on the dotted line, you’re most likely in it for the long haul. Nobody wants to spend the next 30 years living down the results of a poorly informed financial decision.
20 years ago, on a whim, you could grab a free real estate flyer as you left the supermarket, call the first agent you saw listed, go on an all-day field trip touring homes and most likely qualify for a mortgage for just about any home you wanted…
…. Well, that didn’t work out so well for everyone.
Consequently, things are a bit different today. Real estate agents want to know what buyers are qualified to purchase, before they invest their time in a with buyer. Buyers want to be sure they can be approved for the mortgage loan and to know what options they have with these loans. This information comes from loan officers which work for financial institutions such as mortgage companies, banks and credit unions.. These institutions act differently with the mortgage process. Mortgage companies are established only to do mortgages. Banks and Credit Unions are somewhat different in that are established primarily for banking purposes instead of for mortgages (even though they offer mortgage services).
And that’s where I come in…
I’ve been making it my business to guide home buyers through a minefield of poor choices and missed opportunities for almost 30 years. It IS in my best interests to have the buyers best interests at heart as I guide them on their quest to qualify for and ultimately, purchase a home they’ll love that won’t ruin them financially. It IS in my best interests not to just convince them that I am knowledgeable and honest but to help them prep for their loan applications, choose a home that they can afford in a neighborhood they would want to live in and match them with the right type of loan with a lender that will offer them the best rates that they can qualify for. My years of experience in this field allow me to see around corners that sometimes a buyer might not even realize are there in the first place.
WHY do I do this? Because I live by that old adage that my parents taught me. “Do onto others as you want them to do onto you”. I won’t become rich living my life that way, but I will feel better about myself and what I do to make a living.
And that brings us to why this website exists…
My intention in building this website is to provide the information and tools to educate prospective home-buyers with the fundamental knowledge required to start them making the correct decisions early and to point them down the most beneficial path FOR THEM on their journey to their new homes.
The more buyers I can educate, the better off everybody is.
